Its not over!.. its just a warm-up to the upcoming "shop till you drop" Xmas spree.
It's all about buying, spending your hard earned cash on what you already have and less on what really matters: YOUR NEEDS.
Wants have an overpowering pull because of that instant gratifying sweet energy they carry and the power we tend to exude. Thanks to the one-minute millionare syndrome, we feel great for just a minute.
You've got enough clothes and shoes to last you a life time (I know, my closet is full) and you only use a fraction of the lot. Yah, yah, you gained or lost weight in the past few months for valid reasons I guess. You've just been hitched, so a cute little number is a non-negotiate.
You can't wear the same clothes two times; say what? if you are a celeb I will understand, if not, think again.
A new set of clothes and a new wardrobe will definitely burn your purse, and its not recycleable. You wear it, you keep it. How about giving it to the less fortunate - just a suggestion, please don't kill me.
Did you know that celebrieties don't buy the designer clothes they wear; they are sponsored. Actors and Fashion Models don't even think of buying the clothes they're showing. Go visit them at home, you will find them in flip-flops and faded jeans - no big deal.
And, that cute slim display doll
wearing your 'to die for' designer dress is nothing but a plastic mould with no hips or cellulite.Splurging more on material things and less on you doesn't make sense. Does it?
Its a pair of Guess or True Religion Jeans not you, yes it pumps up your groove and thats all it does, nothing else. This has all to do with your circle, the 'people' of influence in your life:
P - PLEASERS
E - EGO-CENTRICS
O - OPERATORS
P - PULLERS
L - LABELLERS
E - EXTORTIONISTS
How about a weekend away with your loved one/s; a break-away holiday or a spiritual retreat; a day in a spa; a book; a course or study; self awareness, yoga, aerobics or meditation classes, anything that will tickle your SOUL and bring forth your true happiness that will last.
"I woke up like this!", no, you didn't wake up one morning a Splurger, something happened that made you a buy-o-lic or a buy-o-phobe.
With me it was my background, as a child I wished for everything from food to clothing and for a better life.
* I wished I was white or at least coloured
* l wished I could eat rice instead of mielierys
* I wished I could have chicken instead of meat bones
* I wished I could eat white bread instead of homemade brown bread
* I wished for a television and a stereo
* I wished for a lounge suite instead of a dining room table and chairs
* I couldn't wait for Xmas, as it was the only time I could get new clothes
* I wished for my own pair of school shoes
* I wished for my own Prince Charming
When the time came for me to have and experince it all (weave included), I dug in. I over-indulged in everything and soon I was ADDICTED - to the new attention and the new lifestyle.
I held on for dear life.
Do you know how it feels to try something out, for the first time? Scary and exciting at the same time, a deadly concoction. It's not marvellous until you try it a few times. In most cases there's someone cheering you up and cheering you on;
- 'Try it, you won't regret'
- 'Wow! it fits you so well as if it were made for you'
- "You're so beautiful, where did you get that'
- 'Wow! this must be expensive'
- 'Who are you wearing?'
- 'Wow, what a catch'
- 'With this! im going to dazzle everyone'
- 'How many likes? favorites, tweets and re-tweets? (#today's language)
We may have different stories to tell but it boils down to a lack of self esteem; craving external confirmation and appraisal; living for others not Self.
Material cannot affirm who you are, full-stop.
The sooner you understand this the better, you will soon gain your freedom to choose and be you, the real you not a puppet of the system (like the word).
It should always be about YOU, what is good for you. Donot live your life to impress others, let life be an expression of who you are.
If you don't deal with this monster you will leave it to devour your own off-spring, an unpalatable bequest if you ask me.
Deal with it now, let it be No.1... in your New Years resolutions.
I didn't wake up like this!
Nondi..
